Spotlight Series

spotlight-series2

Liz Weir joins the SRP E-Spotlight Series for a conversation shaped by nearly five decades devoted to storytelling. An internationally respected Irish storyteller, Liz has travelled across five continents collecting stories, developing programs, writing, teaching, and, most importantly, bringing people together through the art of storytelling.

She has performed for audiences of all ages in settings ranging from pubs and prisons to hospitals and some of the world’s most renowned venues, including Vanderbilt Hall in New York’s Grand Central Station and the Royal Albert Hall. Her work reflects a belief that storytelling belongs everywhere people gather.

Liz is the recipient of the International Story Bridge Award from the National Storytelling Network, recognizing her work in promoting storytelling across cultures, and in 2019 she was awarded an MBE for her services to the arts and education.

Her published works include Boom Chicka Boom and Here, There and Everywhere, as well as When Dad Was Away, a picture book inspired by her storytelling work in prisons.

Deeply rooted in community and cultural life, Liz runs Ballyeamon Barn in the Glens of Antrim and serves as Director of the Glens Storytelling Festival, as well as a committee member of the Cape Clear International Storytelling Festival.

Join us for this special online spotlight as Liz reflects on her journey, the communities she has served, and the enduring power of story to connect people across borders, generations, and lives.
